We have such fond memories of John doing security at Hants and Dorset Christian Youth Camps in the 90's. Having met John there I invited him to visit an outreach youth club that had 50 or so kids that used to come to Club Constellation, the council youth club at North Cheam. John sat there surrounded by youths who wanted to talk to him. They were fascinated by his stories and totally accepted him where as many other Christian 'speakers' including myself often didn't last long. It was lovely to get to know him and in turn Karen and the kids. I was so choked up to see his girls carrying his coffin. If was such a lovely gesture that said just how much he was loved. John's life was a living demonstration of the Bible passage that says 'God sets the lonely in families' (Psalm 68).
